Biggest Challenge has been a communication barrier.
Daniel never seemed to understand what you were telling him. I would
describe it as you speak one language,
I speak another, and neither of us knows the other language to understand
each other. Finally, a year ago when Daniel turned 6 he started understanding
some of the requests I would have for him. Throughout the year
Daniel had comprehended more language. Daniel's receptive speech is
really improving, but he still has a long way to go with expressive
speech. We still don't have 'typical' conversations with each other.
He is still learning how to do that, but someday we will.
It
is a Great Blessing to live in Arkansas, which currently
has many educational and financial resources to help children and their
families. Another great blessing is having access to parents from many
parts of the world through the internet. Other parents sharing their
knowledge and resources with me have been my greatest help and support
to get Daniel the most. ...
